Spielberg and Jackson to make Tintin Movies
May 16th 2007 05:11
Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are going to make 3 Tintin movies directing at least one each. The special effects will be done by Weta Digital, which is owned by Jackson and based in Wellington, New Zealand. Weta also worked on the Lord of the Rings.
It's reported that Spielberg has always been a fan of Tintin and has wanted to bring the movies to the big screen for years.
The characters will be animated in 3D, although there's no info on whether they will be using realistic or cartoony graphics. Personally I hope they stick to cartoony. Seeing Tintin as a realistic person would ruin the character I think.
Of course it's not the first time Tintin has been put onto the screen. The Adventures of Tintin was an animated television series based on the popular comic book series, The Adventures of Tintin. The series was produced by Belvision and aired from 1958 to 1962, with 104 five-minute episodes produced. The series was adapted by Charles Shows and was then translated into French by Greg, the editor of Tintin magazine.

My favourite stories were
~ Flight 714
~ Cigars of the Pharoah
~ Prisoners of the Sun
~ Destination Moon
~ Land of Black Gold
Actually they were all fantastic ... they way they started off much more surreal like Tintin in America and The Broken Ear and ended up as highly realistic like Tintin and the Picaros ...
I totally agree that they should stick as closely as possible to Herge's illustrations .. but then putting voices to these characters is incredibly dangerous ... I know its already been done, but I actually haven't seen any of those original Tv episodes ... Are they actually any good??
