Police Use YouTube to Catch Murderer
December 21st 2006 19:26
Hamilton, Ontario Police made an arrest in a murder case after posting a surveillance tape on YouTube.
Police decided to utilize the power of the internet and the popularity of YouTube to help flush out the murderer of Ryan Milner who was stabbed to death at a Hip Hop concert last month.
The video clip was downloaded by over 34,000 people and caused so much attention to the case that it is believed it pressured the suspect to turn himself in to police.
Hamilton police are being commended for 'thinking outside the box' and it is believed this is the first time law enforcement anywhere have used YouTube in a criminal investigation.
