Animal Heroes: 'Tails' of Bravery
November 30th 2006 16:27
Animals add joy & affection to our lives. Some of them even save our lives. Here are some uplifting tales of Animal heroes:
Spencer the dog is the companion of a man afflicted with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Chronic Musco / Skeletal Arthralgia. The man, Cheta, was frying sausages for lunch when the sudden, irresistable urge to sleep overcame him. Because of his diseases, Cheta was helpless to fight the overwhelming fatigue but managed to make his way to his bed.
He was awakened by Spencer's insistent and non-stop 'alert' barking. Spencer would not be ignored and finally Cheta got up to see what all the fuss was about. The forgotten sausages had started burning up the man's kitchen and filling his small apartment with thick, black smoke. Luckily Spencer's actions had alerted his owner in time, saving his life.

Binti Jua , a gorilla in the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago, put her maternal feelings of protection into action when a three year old boy fell into the gorilla exhibit. Binti rushed over to the child and cradled and comforted him, keeping him safe from less-friendly gorillas. The boy spent a few days in hospital and then was released.
Binti Jua is the 'niece' of the famous sign-language proficient Koko. To learn more about Binti Jua or Koko click here
Aggie the Wonder Cat. Aggie's life didn't start out on a good note: she was blind and unwanted. Her human rescuers only meant to keep the sightless kitten temporarily but just had to adopt her when they fell in love with her spunky character. Good thing, because years later Aggie earned her keep in spades.
On a frigidly cold night, the neighbourhood was fast asleep except good old Aggie. The feline listened with suspicion as the downstairs window was being stealthily opened and a man, who Aggie knew did not belong there, was trying to come inside. That just wouldn't do for this Wonder Cat. Aggie sprang into action jumping on the intruder's face, claws flying. The burglar's screams of agony awakened the household but he was long gone by the time the family came down to investigate, thanks to Aggie. All that they found was a shoe on the windowsill and the intruder's blood on Aggie's paws. Read more here

I have a cat, Cosmo. He is around 3 years old. I'm not exactly sure how old he is because I got him from the SPCA. They said he was found with his brothers & sisters out in the bush by a passerby. The passerby could not catch the mama cat but brought in all the kittens so they could be adopted.
Cosmo was the last one left as he was the runt of the litter. I didn't care that he was small & fell in love with him at first sight. Don't worry, he made up for his size by eating EVERYTHING in sight at my place. He is now a big, proud macho he cat.
While Cosmo hasn't rescued me from a burning building yet, he did guard the place when a visitor brought their big dog by.

Cosmo sounds great. I can appreciate the eating as Stanley thinks he's hungry every time he's inside the house!

Wonder animal tales never cease to inspire me. Use some feminine wiles to capture that man, they are out there but there has to be something in it for them in a relationship.
Successful women's libber,
